Did you know?

Philodendron White Wave aka. Philodendron Birkin is from the Aroid, or Araceae family. Plants in this family are native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. However, Philodrendron is a hybrid (meaning it doesn't exist in the wild). It has been cultivated for the white pinstriped variegation on its deep green, pointed oval leaves.

Light | Likes bright, indirect light

Humidity | Likes humidity and may need misting in winter.

Water | Water regularly in spring and summer to avoid drying out, but reduce in autumn/winter and allow the soil to dry out about 3cm from the top before watering.

Soil | Well-draining soil with a coarse, airy texture.

Repotting | This plant prefers to be root-bound so don’t pot up too frequently.

Propagating | By stem cuttings in water, and then into soil when the roots have established.

Good to know:

Variegated leaves like those on this plant can revert to full green without the correct light levels. To keep the white-stripe variegation looking tip-top, make sure your plant receives lots of bright, indirect light.

Common problems:

Like all Philodendrons, the birkin is prone to Spider mites, scale, thrips, and mealybugs
