A candle that smells like winter in the Southwest: bonfires that linger, and wool jackets pulled out of the cupboard again. Piñon from PF Candles Co is warm and woody, with piñon logs and cedar, softened by a little vanilla.

The scent throw is moderate, so it fills a room with a gentle woodsmoke feel without taking it over. It suits a living room on a cold evening, a bedroom or a hallway. It is hand poured into an amber apothecary style jar with a kraft paper label and a brass lid, and it burns for 40 to 50 hours. When it is finished, wash out the jar and reuse it as a little planter or pencil holder.

It makes a lovely housewarming or birthday gift, and a cosy treat for yourself when the nights draw in.

PF Candles Co. Piñon soy candle. 7.2oz (204g). Soy wax with fine fragrance oils and a cotton core wick. Hand poured into an amber glass jar with a brass lid and kraft label. Approx 7cm diameter and 9.5cm high. Burn time 40 to 50 hours. Scent throw: moderate. Fragrance family: woody.
Scent notes: piñon logs, cedar and vanilla.
How to use: trim the wick to about 6mm (1/4") before lighting. Let the wax melt to the edges of the jar each time to prevent pooling. Never leave a candle burning unattended, and do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Stop burning when about 6mm (1/4") of wax remains. Once finished, clean out the jar and reuse it.
