A candle that smells like an East Coast autumn: leaf piles, leather jackets and crisp mornings. Iris Suede from PF Candles Co is woody, smoky and a little spicy, with eucalyptus leaf, pink pepper and thyme flower at the top, then cypress needle, orris root and almond blossom in the middle.

It settles into a warm base of amber, sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli and woodsmoke. It is a good fit for a living room on a cold evening, a hallway or a desk, anywhere you want a bit of autumn atmosphere.

It is hand poured into an amber apothecary style jar with a kraft paper label and a brass lid, and it burns for 40 to 50 hours. When it is finished, wash out the jar and reuse it as a little planter or pencil holder.

It makes a lovely housewarming or birthday gift, and a nice small treat for yourself when the nights draw in.

PF Candles Co. Iris Suede soy candle. 7.2oz (204g). Soy wax with fine fragrance oils and a cotton core wick. Hand poured into an amber glass jar with a brass lid and kraft label. Approx 7cm diameter and 9.5cm high. Burn time 40 to 50 hours. Fragrance family: woody, smoky, spicy.
Scent notes: top, eucalyptus leaf, pink pepper and thyme flower. Middle, cypress needle, dried thyme leaves, orris root and almond blossom. Base, amber, sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli and woodsmoke.
How to use: trim the wick to about 6mm (1/4") before lighting. Let the wax melt to the edges of the jar each time to prevent pooling. Never leave a candle burning unattended, and do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Stop burning when about 6mm (1/4") of wax remains. Once finished, clean out the jar and reuse it.
