Rattle snake plant | Goeppertia insignis (formerly Calathea lancifolia)
Goeppertia (go-per-sha) insignis is a stunning houseplant with upright, lance-shaped leaves.
Its unique appearance features deep green markings on apple green leaves, with long, undulating edges. The undersides of the leaves are a rich burgundy colour and velvety to the touch. In low light, the leaves fold up on themselves, and become more upright.
Origin: Tropical climates such as Brazil
Light: Bright indirect light, out of the full sun. Tolerates shade.
Water: Keep soil slightly moist in the summer. In the winter, allow the topsoil to dry out between waterings.
Humidity: High. Mist or place in a warm, steamy bathroom
Temperature: Stable temperatures above 16°C. Avoid draughts.
