Philodendron White Wave | Philodendron 'Birkin' | Striped Variegated Houseplant
Also known as Philodendron 'Birkin', the White Wave is one of the most striking variegated houseplants you can grow. Its deep green, pointed oval leaves are brushed with fine white pinstripes that radiate from the centre; no two leaves are quite the same, and every new leaf is a small event.
This Philodendron is a cultivated hybrid, prized for that distinctive white variegation. Unlike most other Philodendrons, it's a compact, non-climbing specimen, which makes it ideal for desks, shelves and smaller interiors. It's an easy and forgiving plant to keep happy.
Care at a glance
Light: Bright, indirect light. Retaining good variegation needs good light, but avoid full sun.
Water: Water regularly in spring and summer to avoid drying out; reduce watering in autumn and winter, letting the top 3cm of soil dry before watering. Likes humidity and may appreciate misting in winter.
Origin: Cultivated hybrid (Philodendrons are native to South America).
Caution: Toxic to humans and pets. Best kept out of reach.
Supplied in a plastic nursery pot. As a living plant, each is unique, and yours will have its own pattern of variegation.
