Soft, feathery and full of movement, the Asparagus Fern (Asparagus setaceus 'Plumosus', also known as lace fern) unfurls fine, frond like sprays of bright green foliage on wiry stems. Despite its name it is not a true fern but a relative of lilies, though it brings the same delicate, airy texture to a room.

It looks lovely trailing from a shelf, softening a plant grouping or adding fresh, green fullness to a mixed display. Give it a bright spot out of harsh sun and keep it lightly moist for the freshest growth.

Care at a glance

Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid strong direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
Water: Keep lightly and evenly moist in spring and summer, easing off in winter. Try not to let it dry out completely.
Humidity: Enjoys higher humidity and the occasional misting.
Note: Best kept away from curious pets, as the foliage and berries can cause an upset stomach if eaten.
