The Fishbone Hoya (Hoya polyneura) is a distinctive, sought after trailing wax plant, admired for its slender, boldly veined leaves that resemble a fish skeleton. Delicate and unusual, it trails prettily from a shelf or hanging pot, and in time produces charming clusters of star shaped, bell like flowers.

A lovely plant for collectors, it stays relatively compact and rewards a little attention with its unique foliage and pretty blooms.

Care at a glance

Light: Bright, indirect light encourages the best growth and flowering.
Water: Water when the top few centimetres of compost dry out. Its semi succulent leaves store water, so it dislikes sitting wet.
Humidity: Appreciates average to higher humidity.
Note: Generally considered non toxic and one of the more pet tolerant houseplants, though it is still best kept out of reach.
