Striped Fireball’ | Nidularium schult Striped Fireball
15 cm diameter
Nidularium schultii ‘Striped Fireball’ is a vibrant, low-growing bromeliad prized for its fiery red centre and beautifully striped leaves. It’s easy to care for, thrives indoors or outdoors (in the summer), and brings a tropical touch to any space.
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light.
Tolerates lower light more than many bromeliads, but colours will be brightest in medium–bright filtered light.
How to water:
Bromeliads need slightly different care than regular houseplants.
Water mainly into the central “cup” of the plant.
Keep the cup filled with fresh water, and flush it out weekly to prevent stagnation.
Water the soil lightly — the root system is small and mainly for stability.
Allow the soil surface to dry slightly before watering again.
Ongoing care:
Nidularium grows as a rosette and produces brightly colored “fireball” centres. After blooming, the mother plant slowly declines while producing 'pups' at the base.
Remove pups when they are ⅓ to ½ the size of the mother plant, and repot individually.
