Begonia Foliage Rex Wings is a little collection of showstoppers. Each plant is a different Begonia cultivar, and every one is scattered with silver polka dots: some with long, pointed angel wing leaves in fresh, glossy green, others with deep, almost black ruffled foliage and flashes of red new growth. They are so closely related that we can't be completely certain of every cultivar name, so we've simply numbered them 1 to 4. Pick the one that catches your eye.

Angel wing begonias grow on upright, cane like stems and come from the humid understorey of tropical forests, so they're used to soft, filtered light rather than strong sun. They look brilliant on a shelf or sideboard, and even better grouped together for a bit of pattern on pattern. A bright kitchen or bathroom suits them perfectly.

Care at a glance

Light: Bright, indirect light. An east or west facing window is ideal. Harsh direct sun can scorch the leaves, while too little light dulls the silver spotting.

Water: Keep the compost lightly moist from spring to autumn, letting the top couple of centimetres dry out between waterings. Water more sparingly in winter and never leave it sitting in water.

Humidity: Enjoys medium to high humidity. Stand it on a tray of moist pebbles or group it with other plants, but avoid misting the leaves, as this can encourage powdery mildew.

Warmth: Keep somewhere warm, above 15°C, and away from cold draughts and radiators.

Feeding and pruning: Feed monthly with a balanced houseplant food in spring and summer. If the stems get leggy, pinch out the growing tips in summer for a bushier plant.

Pet note: Begonias are mildly toxic if chewed, so they're best kept away from curious pets and little ones.

Supplied in a plastic nursery pot. As living plants, each one is unique, and the spotting and leaf shape on yours may vary slightly from the photos.

Shipping: Please note that although we do our best to package these plants to avoid damage, the delicate nature of the leaves means tears and blemishes may happen in transit. By selecting shipping you are accepting of this fact.
