This limited edition Wintery Botanical Aperitivo from Botivo is warm, spiced and gently bittersweet, with date molasses, allspice, clove and vanilla, finished with a wisp of smoky saffron. It’s the sort of bottle you want on the drinks trolley when friends arrive stamping the cold off their feet.

It’s non alcoholic and easy to serve. Pour 25ml over ice and top up with 150ml of soda water, or use hot water for a cosy winter version, then finish with a twist of orange peel. It’s also good with ginger beer, and if you fancy something stronger, it mixes well with spirits. One 500ml bottle makes around 20 drinks.

It’s hand blended in small batches at Lannock Farm in Hertfordshire, on a base of aged British apple cider vinegar and wildflower honey.
