Few prayer plants are as delicately marked as the Beauty Star. This cultivar carries slender, tapering leaves finely pinstriped in blush pink and white, radiating out across deep green. Turn a leaf over, and you'll find a rich purple underside, a lovely contrast that shows off beautifully as the foliage rises and falls through the day.
Like others in the prayer plant family, the Beauty Star lifts its leaves in the evening and lowers them by morning, a gentle bit of movement that makes it feel alive in a room. Its upright, clumping habit keeps it neat and full, making it a graceful pick for a shelf, a plant stand or a spot on a well-lit desk away from direct sun.
Care at a glance
Light: Bright, indirect. Keep out of direct sun, which can scorch and fade the markings
Water: Keep lightly moist, watering when the top of the soil begins to dry. It dislikes drying out fully or sitting wet
Humidity: Loves higher humidity. Happier grouped with other plants or somewhere naturally humid
Temperature: Warm and steady, above 16°C, away from draughts
Feed: A balanced liquid feed monthly through spring and summer
Note: Non-toxic and a safe choice around curious pets
As a living plant, each one is a little different, so the exact markings and size of yours will be one of a kind.
