Sometimes called the silver streak pothos, Epipremnum amplissimum 'Silver Stripe' is a more unusual and elegant cousin of the classic devil's ivy. Instead of heart shaped leaves, it grows long, narrow, pointed ones in deep green, each brushed with fine silvery stripes that catch the light as you walk past.
In the wild it climbs up through the rainforest canopy, and at home it's just as happy trailing from a high shelf or hanging pot as it is climbing a moss pole. Given something to climb, its leaves will grow larger and broader over time. It's every bit as easy going as other pothos, so it's a great choice if you're after something a little different.
Care at a glance
Light: Bright, indirect light keeps the silver markings at their best. Keep it out of direct sun.
Water: When the top few centimetres of compost feel dry, and a little less often in winter. Avoid letting it sit in water.
Humidity: Happy in average rooms, and lusher with a little extra humidity.
Support: Trails beautifully, or give it a moss pole to climb for bigger leaves.
Pet note: Best kept away from curious pets, as pothos can irritate if chewed.
Supplied in a plastic nursery pot. As a living plant, each one is unique and yours will have its own pattern of silver striping.
