It's hot but not too hot. Think fairly hot madras or balti rather than korma or vindaloo). It can glow up all sorts of meals and snacks. We're talking eggs & avo, smoked salmon, stir fry, baked beans, you name it! Or of course you can just plonk a bowl of it down and let everyone dip away.
