Also known as the radiator plant, Peperomia obtusifolia 'Obtipan Bicolor' is a variegated form of the much loved baby rubber plant. Its thick, fleshy, cupped leaves are marbled creamy white over rich green, with soft pastel pink margins that give it a gentle glow.
It's a bushy, upright plant on sturdy stems, and now and then sends up narrow spikes of off white flowers on red brown stalks. Compact and tidy, it looks great on a desk, a coffee table or a bright shelf, and it's a brilliant choice for homes with pets.
Care at a glance
Light: Bright, indirect light keeps the variegation at its best, although it will cope with lower light.
Water: Let the top half of the compost dry out before watering. The fleshy leaves store water, so it's always better to err on the dry side.
Humidity: Happy in average rooms.
Pet note: Peperomias are non toxic, so this one is a safe choice around cats and dogs.
Supplied in a plastic nursery pot. As a living plant, each one is unique and yours will have its own pattern of variegation.
